The week leading up to and the two weeks during my vacation I didn't shave. I'm no Grizzly Adams, but will say 13 yr old mexican boys would be jealous. And, big ups to johnny's photoshop skills to add my upper lip's amazement to brad and his face. hilar.
and yes, that's cowboys red river in the background...ladies night of course ;)
I haven't posted in a while. Lots going on with work, etc, but I did take 2 wks off...finally. I spent a wk in NYC reminding myself why I live there and remembering why I fell in love with the magnetism. A week in Dallas meeting up with Johnny, hanging out at Brandon's, wakeboarding until my legs fell off, playing wii until my arms fell off and boot scootin with Johnny, Kylene and Brad & co.
The last few days, I spent with some friends in San Fran. I've spent a lot of time out there the last 6 months, but I had yet to go to any museums or drive through Napa. I did both. Here are a bunch of pics from the de Young museum where they were featuring the work of Dale Chihuly & co. Awesome.
Bangalore was renamed Bengaluru in Nov. '06, but is still more commonly know as Bangalore. Here, I've spent the last 3 days either holed up in a university hallway peddling my developer wares, listening to lectures about India's mobile community or inside my hotel room working. Pretty cool stuff in the bigger context of things especially since Nokia has such a lion's share of the market here. Roughly 70%...pretty cool.
But, after 6 days, I'm growing tired of Indian food. I'm sure that would be the case anywhere I spent a ton of time and the local cuisine was really the only thing worth eating, but I'd give Italy and Mexico a chance to prove me wrong ;) As a caveat, there are a ton of restrictions on what I can eat based upon the bacteria in the water. Anything I eat has to be freshly cooked and well-done. I can't eat lettuce or anything that would have recently been washed by the water or not been washed at all. Bottled water is the only safe way to go...etc, etc.
Anyways, aside from all that, I think India is a great place though my opinion is skewed towards mammoth cities...10 million people and larger. So basing my opinion on that would be like basing it on NYC and Houston...yeah NY, boo h-town.
I've read a lot about the Kashmir and Kerala (both states inside India) and when I return, I'd like to spend time in both of those places. Enough of my ramblings, now for the pics
Oh, so back to what I did in the hour I had to walk around. I went shopping for textiles that my friends had requested. I found out I got ripped off majorly in Delhi, paying 5x's what I should have paid. I found the local market today and for what I paid for one textile in Delhi, I got 4 in Bangalore. Also, I found a middle school cricket field and snapped a few pics. You'll also notice I have a propensity to take pics of motorcycles. I have several that I've taken in my apartment and the trend continues abroad. Plus, the sheer number of motorcycles in the city is incredible.
And, apart from people looking at me funny in general because I stick out so badly, I take pictures of things like the fire bucket and the Pure for Sure gas sign. It doesn't help. So more auto-rickshaw's, a temple and a street vendor littering.
So the last 6 months have been spent planning the PR globally for Pangea Day. It came, it went and I've washed my hands of it. If you want to know more, pangeaday.org, knock yourself out. There were some highlights...seeing Cameron Diaz on stage, back stage and watching people fawn over her. Granted, she is pretty, but bleh...so here are some more pictures of the pangea day stadium. In my opinion, this could have been scaled down...we were supposed to be uniting the world, not preparing for the eliminator event on american gladiator.
so i've been traveling a ton lately. spending more time on the west coast than on the east, and it's taking me far longer to get the apt together. here's a quarter of my space. more photos to come...likely after my world tour....LA, SF, Delhi, Bangalore, Barcelona and Helsinki. i'm tired already thinking about it.
That is funny. I saw a few "shorts" on Pangea day that I loved. Beautifully made stories: The Slap was... read more
